Robert W. Matanky is and has been involved with every phase of more than 100 real estate developments, including acquisition, zoning, financing, structuring, negotiation, construction, management and disposition. He takes pride in adding value to every project on which he works. He concurrently serves as President of Matanky and Matanky, Ltd., a law firm which concentrates in business and commercial real estate transactions and litigation, condominiums, real estate development and finance, and has overall responsibility for Matanky Realty Group’s legal matters.

Having graduated with Honors from both the University of Illinois at Chicago/College of Engineering and the Illinois Institute of Technology/Chicago - Kent College of Law, in 1990, Mr. Matanky earned his MBA degree with a specialization in finance from the Graduate School of Business at the University of Chicago. Mr. Matanky has served as a Director and on the real estate and executive committees of a Chicago bank which has since been merged into US Bank.

Mr. Matanky is a member of the Real Estate Investment Association (REIA), formerly known as the Real Estate Securities and Syndication Institute (RESSI) of the National Association of Realtors (NAR), and served as a member of its Board of Directors from 1989-2003, and as a National Group Vice President in 1989-1990. He earned the designation of Specialist in Real Estate Securities (SRS) in 1985, and in 1992 earned the designation of Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) granted by the Commercial Investment Real Estate Institute of the NAR. He has served as a legislative contact for the Illinois Association of Realtors and as a member of the Arbitration Committee and the Group Investment Council of the Chicago Association of Realtors. He is also a member of the Northern Illinois Commercial Association of Realtors. As an active member of the Chicago Bar Association, Mr. Matanky serves on its Real Property Law and Continuing Legal Education committees, and has previously served on its Real Estate Tax committee. He is also a member of the Illinois State Bar Association. An active past president of The Decalogue Society of Lawyers, he also served as Editor in Chief of The Decalogue Journal, and is Vice President of The Decalogue Foundation.

Listed in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law and Who’s Who in the Midwest, Mr. Matanky has lectured on real estate topics for a number of institutions, including the University of Illinois, IIT/Chicago-Kent College of Law, the National Association of Realtors, the Chicago Association of Realtors, The Decalogue Society of Lawyers and the Chicago Jewish Historical Society.

Mr. Matanky has also distinguished himself in institutional, philanthropic and community leadership positions, and serves on more than a dozen Boards and committees. He serves on the International Board of Directors of Hillel-the Foundation for Jewish Campus Life and is a past chairman of The Hillels of Illinois. He is a co-chairman of the Jewish United Fund- Lawyers Division. Since 1987, he has served on the Jewish Federation Government Affairs Committee and is a member of the Jewish Federation Commission on Community Building and Jewish Continuity. He is a Director of Hebrew Theological College and immediate past president of Associated Talmud Torahs of Chicago. He is a Director of Jewish National Fund, having served as a Vice President from 1999 — 2001, and is a founder and past president of Chicago Eruv, Inc. As a Vice President of the Jewish Community Council of West Rogers Park, Mr. Matanky is involved in community development and adaptive re-use.

Mr. Matanky is a licensed attorney and has been admitted to practice before the Illinois Supreme Court, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the U.S. Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. He is also an Illinois licensed real estate broker and insurance broker.
